We're glad you come to see us, but remember that when you're looking at us, we're looking back at you too. This page features some of the people we see at our gigs. Check it out...one of them might be YOU! (By the way, if for some reason you were supposed to be somewhere else when your picture was taken partying with us, we will gladly remove your photo for a negotiable fee depending on how much trouble you'll be in...)

(L) Bob sports a new look, and Jojo looks on. (R) Craig and Geoff share the right side of the stage. |

(L) Two lovely ladies in the audience. (R) Brion's having a good time on the big blond bass. |
![]() |
(L) Jojo and (R) Geoff. If you didn't stick around for the last set you missed some fine blues. |
| New York Marathon, New York, NY, November 7, 2004 | |
![]() |
(L) The night before the event the band and ladies walk through Central Park on the way to Tavern on the Green. (R) The marathon sponsors had a "pasta feed" in a giant tent for the runners the night before the race. We got "VIP" passes to sit inside Tavern On The Green and go really first class. Sweet. |
![]() |
(L) A bunch of tourists from California gawking in Times Square on a Friday night. It was cold! Luckily it got warmer as the weekend went on. (R) Statten Island, at the foot of the Verazano Bridge, 7 AM. The band plays while 42,000 runners arrive by bus and warm up for the 10 AM start. |
![]() |
(L) On stage between sets in the morning before the start. (R) Runners warming up in the UPS parking lot on the other side of the building from the stage got to watch the band on a Jumbotron screen. Here Geoff and JoJo are featured. |
![]() |
(L) Some of the runners prepare for the start near the stage. (R) Many ran in costumes. The kids no doubt loved "Spongebob" shown here getting ready for the 26.2 miles. |
![]() |
(L) A group of girls get their photo taken before the start. (R) A group from Munich sported some distinctive headwear. |
![]() |
R) At 10 AM the cannon fires and the runners head over the bridge toward Brooklyn. The start is not open to the public, so we feel very special to have been allowed to be right there. (R) Runners continued to stream by like this for about a half hour. Some were serious, and some were there to party. |
![]() |
(L) A fire truck from FDNY brings some heartfelt reality to the event. (R) A group of tired runners get their second wind as they approach the finish in front of the stage. There was a jumbo-tron screen so they could see themselves on camera as they came around the final corner. |
![]() |
(L) From Statten Island we were bussed to another stage at Columbus Circle at the end of Central Park. The runners came right by in front of the stage about 200 yards from the finish line after running 26.2 miles. We played from 3 PM to 5 PM when many of the runners were coming by. (R) By that time some were limping, some were in pain, some were helping others and some, like this guy were asleep on their feet. |
![]() |
(L) The band on stage in Central Park. (R) JoJo's view of the runners going by in front of the stage on their way to the finish line. They started at 10 AM and this photo was taken shortly before 5 PM. These folks had been running for 7 hours. |
![]() |
(L) These guys came to run the maraton dressed as the Blues Brothers--suit, tie, hat, black shoes and all. (R) They finished together too, as Joe's shot from the stage just before the finish line shows. No doubt they were "on a mission from God." |
![]() |
(L) A sign by the side of the street proclaims you can get a tour of the city from the "Real" Kramer. (R) Dinner at Vince and Eddie's near Central Park was a real treat. The trip was a lot of walking, a lot of eating, a "few" drinks, not much sleeping and playing twice for a huge crowd. I guess they liked us...we were asked back to do it again next year. |
![]() |
(L) A half of a triple decker pastrami, corned beef, turkey and Swiss on rye from the Stage Deli. A sandwich is $18.95 but you can split one and still get filled up. Seven people, a half a sandwich each, some beer and one slice of cheesecake was almost $300.00. No, New York ain't cheap. (R) But where else are you going to get a slice of cheesecake like this? We didn't even ask how much this cost. Who cares? |
![]() |
(L) One of the things we really wanted to see on this trip was Ground Zero. Here is the entrance to the new exhibit and viewing area. (R) Seen from the sidewalk looking through the fence is a cross made of I-beams found in the rubble. It was not modified—it was simply displayed as found. |
![]() |
(L) What girl can resist a fireman? Certainly not Nedra, Vickie and Marda. (R) Giving equal time to the NYPD are Shannon, Marda, Nedra and Vickie. We found the police and the people of New York to be really friendly and helpful. Don't believe the rep New York City has about being a tough town. |
| National Guard Deployment Party, Hart Park, Orange, CA, October 2, 2004 | |
![]() |
Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 160th Infantry (Mechanized) is about to deploy to Bosnia. The city of Orange threw a party for the troops and their families at Hart Park. The local fire department supplied the burgers and hot dogs and the mayor came out as well. We wish all these fine citizen soldiers a safe deployment and a swift return to their families. We were honored to contribute some of our time to help make it a memorable occasion for them. |
![]() |
(L) Joe shakes hands with Mayor Mark Murphy of the City of Orange. (R) A soldier shares some food, music and fun with his son. |
![]() |
The troops were addressed by their commanding officer Captain Silva (L) and by General Gong (R). |
![]() |
(L) Captain Silva introduces the Staff Sergeant who will serve as Family Support Rear Detachment NCO. (R) The company comes to attention to salute the flag. |
![]() |
(L) Note the small left-handed salute from a future troop at the bottom right of the photo. (R) At the end of the event, the troops fell in for roll call. After each answered the call and a few emotional songs were played, they marched back to the armory to the tune of The Army Song played by Craig on piano and Joe on snare drum. (Next time we'll know the song better, honest. It's not exactly one we get a lot of requests for at our usual gigs...) |
![]() |
Family members look on during the speeches. (R) Craig enjoys a break and some good food on a fine summer afternoon in the park. Members of the band were "coined" with a dramatic US Flag coin from the Army Guard, for which we are most grateful. Playing for this fine group of Americans is truly a privilege for us and we thank them for the opportunity. |
| Cousin Jack's, Long Beach, CA, September 18, 2004 | |
![]() |
Cousin Jack's offers a taste of New Orleans right on Pine Ave. in Long Beach. Things got going pretty good when the revelers from the big birthday party upstairs came down to dance. |
![]() |
The New Orleans Mardi Gras theme of Cousin Jack's is done up first class all the way and sets a great party atmosphere. |
![]() |
Mardi Gras masks line the walls above the bar. The menu includes some great New Orleans favorites too. |
![]() |
(L) Upstairs, several "ladies" seem to be waiting to toss you some beads from the balcony. (R) "Marilyn Monroe" sings happy birthday to the birthday boy, who had entirely too many good lookin' women on hand for one guy. |
![]() |
Geoff and Joe pose in front of one of the more unique stage backdrops we have ever played in front of. Ever get the feeling you're being watched? |

| Concert in El Retiro Park for the Hollywood Riviera Homeowners Assn., Torrance, CA, September 12, 2004 | |
![]() |
If you were one of the lucky homeowners to be in attendance on this fine summer day, perhaps you can find yourself in the crowd pictures. |
![]() |
(L) Rick Pearlman, enjoying the concert here with his wife, helped arrange the event with Blues Bar-BQ filling in for his band at the last minute. We were glad to do it. (R) Hot dogs, cake and other goodies were served by the association. |
![]() |
(L) Heather is introduced by Michael Cotton, president of the Riviera Homeowner's Association. (R) Borg and Miriam were visiting from Sweden. |
![]() |
(L) It was all about the kids, and plenty of them showed up for this group photo in front of the bandstand. What a great group! (R) Does it get any cuter than this? |

Opening for Canned Heat, The Blue Cafe, Long
Beach, CA, September 11, 2004
|
|
![]() |
(L) The Blue Cafe, one of Long Beach's most established blues venues threw a "Patriot's Day" bash on 9-11 featuring Blues Bar-BQ, Blue Dice and Canned Heat. (R) Geoff joins (right to left) Nedra H., Bill and Debbie F. and lovely friend Sherri. |
![]() |
The Blue Dice came on before Canned Heat and put on a great show. |
![]() |
Canned Heat can still boogie with the same old fire of the original 60's group and features some of the original guys too, but their playing is better than every. Despite being on the road for a year and a half, they were tight, energetic and seemed to be enjoying themselves. It's a long way from Woodstock, but after 4o years, these guys still knock 'em dead. (L) Stan Behrens on vocals. (R) John 'JP' Paulus on guitar. |
![]() |
(L) Dallas Hodge slices off a clean lick on guitar. (R) Joe with drummer Fito de La Parra, one of the original members of Canned Heat. |
![]() |
(L) Bob and Joe enjoy the fries and (R) Barbara, Debbie, and Cristine brighten up the scene. |
| Jojo's Annual Labor Day Blues Bash, Huntington Beach, CA, September 5, 2004 | |
![]() |
(L) Hostess and Host, Vickie and Jojo Hughes share a hug. (R) Bob Landgraff belts out a song. Musicians from several local bands joined the fun and the music went of from 4 until after 11 PM with no major cop incidents...the neighbors were all at the party. |
![]() |
(L) Girls Gone Wild...Christine Landgraff and Deanna Savage get in the spirit of things. (R) Craig on keys and Geoff on guitar. |
![]() |
(L) Blatant Feel opened the show. (R) TK joins Blatant Feel on keyboards. |
![]() |
(L) Brion ends his outstanding rendition of "Sunshine of Your Love" with an expert microphone twirl. Brion blew everyone away with his singing, and will probably be out front on the mic more often in the future. (R) Geoff's band Buck Wildstar rocked the house as the closing band. |
![]() |
(L) The band you don't want to follow, Savage City powered into the night with their strong horn section and dynamic singer, Deanna Savage. Geoff and Jojo backed them for this show. |
![]() |
Some more crowd shots as Deanna and Savage City entertain. |
![]() |
Friend Gina visits with Deanna Savage (L) and Brion Munsey (R). |
![]() |
(L) Tom and Ivy enjoy the show along with others. (R) The lovely Marda keeps cool while trying out some of the 'blues juice' that she and Vickie concocted. It had rum, orange juice, rum, cranberry juice, rum, some other kind of juice, rum and, oh yes, did we mention RUM? |
![]() |
(L) Keeping cool was a priority on this day of record breaking heat. Santa Ana winds caused it to be 2° hotter in Anaheim than it was in Death Valley in the afternoon. No one strayed too far from the pool or the beer keg. (R) Joining Christine are Peter and Karen from Southland Blues magazine as they watch the performance. |
| Off Campus Pub, Fullerton, CA, August 29, 2004 | |

Special guest artist Rick Hughes, JoJo's brother visiting from Michigan sat in on sax for the night and really filled out the sound. |

| Martini Blues, Huntington Beach, CA, August 27, 2004 | |
![]() |
(L) Anita Coyoli made the introductions as the band was presented with an award for their support of the military through playing free concerts for the USO. (R) First Sergeant Timothy Barton presented an award from Charlie Company, 1st Battalion 160th infantry (Mechanized) of the California Army National Guard in thanks for Blues Bar-BQ's participation at their events. |
![]() |
The band gratefully accepts the award from 1st Sergeant Barton. A copy of the certificate is shown too. It is also signed by the commanding officer, Captain Chris Silva. |
![]() |
(L) In addition to the award certificates, the National Guard has been kind enough to present the band members with official coins as a token of their appreciation. The coin on the left was presented personally by General Gong, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Calif. Army National Guard. On the right is the National Guard Coin presented by 1st Sergeant Barton. (R) In additon to the military awards, Bob received a gift from a friend and fan...a hand made shaker with his name engraved along with traditional Hawaiian designs. We thank all the friends, fans and military who came out to Martini Blues to show their appreciation for our efforts and the music. We are truely honored by your support. |
| Free Concert in Crown Valley Park, Laguna Niguel, CA, August 13, 2004 | |
![]() |
The crowd as seen from behind the band. The park is a natural amphitheatre giving every one on the hill a great view of the action. |
![]() |
An expert sound crew set up the sound making for good listening in the crowd. |
![]() |
Crown Valley Park is a great setting for concerts on a warm, sunny summer evening, and an enthusiastic crowd enjoyed the show. |
| Free Concert in Central Park, La Palma, CA, July 17, 2004 | |
![]() |
The Kiwanis Club of La Palma sponsors a summer concert series in Central Park, which has an excellent small amphitheater for the event. Surrounded by cool grass and tall trees, the setup was perfect for the many blues fans who came out and brought their lawn chairs for a picnic and music. |
![]() |
Comcast Cable brought their 4-camera crew to record the event for replay on the local Orange County cable channels. I hear the low sun angle gave them some problems (as it did the band—it was right in our eyes most of the afternoon), but let's hope they got it worked out and it is broadcast on the local channels. A professional sound engineer and mixing board also assured the sound was good for the crowd. |
![]() |
(L) Geoff cranks off a lead solo while Brion looks on. (R) JoJo had plenty of space to spread out his kit on this nice stage. In the background one of the Comcast cameramen films over his shoulder. |
![]() |
(L) Bob in a quieter mood and (R) Bob cutting loose with Geoff and Brion. |
![]() |
Some of the crowd relaxying and enjoying the music. These folks wisely brought their own shade and chairs. |
| Free Concert at the Balboa Pier Park Gazebo, Newport Beach, CA, July 15, 2004 | |
![]() |
What a great spot for a concert! The event was sponsored by the local Balboa merchants organization. See http://www.balboanewportbeach.com/ for more. Here's a shot of some of the crowd in front of the gazebo and one of Craig on keys. |
![]() |
Geoff gets into the mood on a stinging solo. |
![]() |
(L) Joe and Brion enjoy a little shade on a hot summer afternoon at the beach. (R) Bob on harp, with an ocean-colored shirt the exactly matches the trim paint inside the gazebo. Good color coordination, Bob! |
| The Blue Cafe, Long Beach, CA, July 8, 2004 | |
![]() |
The Blue Cafe on the Promanade in downtown Long Beach has long been one of the premier blues spots in Southern California. Thursday, July 8th featured a powerful lineup that included Blues Bar-BQ as well as the Chris Anderson Band and Elnora and Somethin's Cooking. |
![]() |
Chris Anderson opened the show with some great blues. If you haven't had a chance to catch this band, you're missing out. |
![]() |
Vickie Hughes and friends enjoy the show at the Blue Cafe. Thanks to all our fans who came out and supported us mid-week. It was great to see so many dancers on the floor. With these three bands, you definitely got your $7 worth. |
| Army National Guard Family Day, Orange, CA, June 19, 2004 | |
![]() |
(L) Families of the Army National Guard, B and C Company, 1/160 Infantry gather in the park at the National Guard Armory in Orange, CA for a party that included some great Bar-BQ--both food and music. The band played under the camo net cover in the rear. (R) The troops are formed up for an address by their Captain. The band was later presented with certificates of appreciation signed by the commanding General for volunteering to entertain at this function. |
| Campbell wedding at the Queen Mary, Long Beach, May 30, 2004 | |
![]() |
(L) The Queen Mary Wedding Chapel was the scene of Charlie and Gina Campbell's wedding. The Royal Salon/King's View Room on the Promenade Deck was right next to the chapel and a great room for a party. (R) Joe sets up next to the fireplace in the Royal Salon. High ceilings, art deco fixtures and lots of burl wood paneling give the room a real 1930's flavor. |
![]() |
(L) No wonder they call it the "King's View" room. Long Beach can be seen in the background. (R) Our hostess Jolanta gets in the spirit as Craig strikes his best Victor Borge pose at the grand piano before the guests arrive. |
![]() |
(L) Some of the guests share a great reception party in the King's View room. (R) Geoff is a bit overmatched with Deanna and Nancy on either side of him at the dinner table. |
![]() |
(L) Bride and groom Gina and Charlie during the toast. (R) Brion waits hopefully in the background as Charlie tosses the garter, but to no avail. Looks like Brion's staying single a while longer. Geoff is in there somewhere too, probably probably making sure it doesn't accidentally come his way. |
![]() |
(L) A special guest musician, Blackie was brought in just to play the first dance on the pedal steel guitar. The song? "Sleepwalk," of course. Blackie stayed on to add some real musical excitement to our first set too. What a treat to play with such a seasoned pro. (R) There was even a little time for touring the historic steamship before the wedding. Here's a shot on the bridge. |
| Mr. Hogg's Blues City BBQ One-Year Anniversary Party, San Marcos, May 22, 2004 | |
![]() |
(L) Nedra warms up a chair outside. Early in the day and the line was already out the door for those great ribs and pulled pork sandwichs. (R) Food and beer were also available outside where the band was playing. |
![]() |
(L) Bob looks mighty soulful as Craig backs him up on a slow number. (R) Geoff looks happy...could it be the $1.50 beer sign behind him? Brion is a little more thoughtful looking holding up that big blond bass. |
![]() |
(L) As evening falls, Will Gibson snapped this moody shot of the band in the parking lot. When we finally had to quit at 9PM there was still a group calling for more. They got treated to a long version of Voodoo Child by Geoff for an encore. (R) A young fan helps us keep the rhythm going. |
![]() |
(L) Bob enjoys a cigar while Geoff plays the encore. Nedra and Charla can be seen to the left. (R) Amie dances with nephew Marc. The nice part of a party like this is the kids can come out and enjoy the music too. |
![]() |
Dick Lister and Jennifer Wiegand run Blues City BBQ. Here they pose with Dick's wife Virginia (front) and the rest of the crew after the party. Thanks for a great time, guys! |
| Hard Rock Cafe, Newport Beach, May 21, 2004 | |
![]() |
(L) The Hard Rock Cafe and its signature neon guitar in the Fashion Island Mall in Newport Beach. (R) The band pose with Geoff's guitar looking pretty small compared to the giant guitar sign. Neon reflected in the hood of a BMW seemed appropriate for the upscale location. |
![]() |
(L) JoJo ready to go surrounded by the memorabilia that is part of the charm of the Hard Rock Cafe's around the world. Rock posters, famous guitars...even Elton John's shoes were on display. (R) JoJo, TK and Brion help hold up the bar, which features a big Caddy suspended above it. Surfboards on the wall point out the local theme of this beach-oriented Hard Rock. |
| Off Campus Pub, Fullerton, Finis Tasby Benefit, May 2, 2004 | |
![]() |
(L) Finis Tasby and JoJo share enjoy the shade on the patio. The hot day (104°) and lots of hot music combined to raise some money to help Finis raise the five grandchildren left behind when his daughter was murdered recently. (R) Finis and his band kicked off the fund raiser. |
![]() |
Lots of dancin' goin' on here. This was early on, but things got a little more rowdy as the day progressed. Many bands gathered to play 1/2 hour each from 2 PM on into the night. Names like Johnny Dyre, L.A. Jones, Kid Ramos, Savage City, Raging Sun, and Blues Bar-BQ gave them plenty to dance to. |
![]() |
(L) Deanna Savage of Savage City got the crowd rocking with her powerful vocals. (R) The big 5-piece Savage City horn section blew the doors off the place. We were glad we went on before them and not after. They're a hard act to follow. Armon Frank in the foreground also plays on Blues Bar-BQ's latest CD. If you get a chance, don't miss Savage City. See their schedule at www.savagecity.info. |
| Coach House (opening for Rod Piazza), May 1, 2004 | |
![]() |
(L) Blues Bar-BQ opens the show. (R) Pamela G and her fine band warmed up the crowd before Rod Piazza came on. Not just a great singer, she's a genuinely nice person too. |
![]() |
(L) Jojo and Katie enjoy the show with Dan and Judy. (R) Jojo took young Katie backstage to meet the lovely and talented "Miss Honey", Rod Piazza's wife and piano player. |
![]() |
Blanca and Kerry are on the left, and Jojo is sitting with Blanca's sister Zoila. Blanca is Jojo's assistant at the Costco hearing aid center. |
![]() |
(L) Geoff mugs for a photo with Katie, who was having a big night for a young lady. (R) Geoff "Loverboy" Gurrola and his lovely lady Shannon get distracted during Rod's show. |
![]() |
(L) Miss Honey always brings down the house with her piano playing and great stage presence, particularly her solo on "Saturday Night Boogie." (R) Rod and his band, the Mighty Flyers never fail to get a standing ovation by the time they're done. Henry Carbahal tears up the guitar and Bill Stuve on upright bass has been with Rod for ages. If you missed this show, catch Rod the first chance you get. |
| Toyota Long Beach Grand Prix Champ Car Race Sponsors Party, April 16, 2004, Long Beach, CA | |
![]() |
(L) Al Unser's old Formula 5000 car from 1975 was on display at the Expo in the convention center along with many other displays, exhibits, booths and vintage race cars that were there to race that weekend. (R) Joe got close to the action for this shot as the cars entered pit lane on Saturday. |
|
(L) Geoff shows the U.S. Marines how pull-ups are supposed to be done at the Expo. Here he is about halfway through his 50 pull-ups...or so he said. (R) The band gets ready to play for the corporate sponsors party on Friday night. |
![]() |
(L) Joe and friends in the pits. Joe managed to wrangle a high speed ride around the track in the pace car on Friday morning. (R) Joe relaxes at Hooters with the Tecate Beer girls. |
![]() |
(L) Joe always seems to find a bevy of beauties to get his picture taken with. Here some of the obliging Hooters girls posed for the camera. (R) We don't know who the birthday girl was, but it is our firm belief that you just can't have too many Hooters girls shots. |
| Orange County Music Awards, March 27, 2004, The Galaxy Theatre, Santa Ana, CA (to see Pacific Coast Webcasting's streaming video of Blues Bar-BQ performing the song "Sugar Mama" and all the other performances at the awards, CLICK HERE.) | |

| Champ Car Fan Funfest, Long Beach Arena, March 9, 2004 | |
![]() |
(L) The Long Beach Arena begins to fill up as several thousand spectators file in to the free-to-the-public Tuesday night event. On stage at the far side drivers sit for a question and answer session with the fans. The band played between driver sessions, and many different kinds of race cars were displayed on the arena floor. (R) Before the event, the band sets up on stage. |
![]() |
(L) Four drivers answer questions on stage. Among the drivers present were Alex Tagliani, Michel Jordaine, Adrian Fernandez and a number of young up-and-comers. (R) The best of the present and the future sign autographs...on the left is 2003 Champ Car champion, Paul Tracy. On the right is young rookie driver Ryan Hunter-Raye. |
![]() |
(L) For you car fans, here is Brian Redman's winning Formula 5000 Boraxo car from the first Long Beach race in 1975. (R) Tommy Kendall's Jaguar TransAm car was on display and Tommy was there signing autographs as well. Long time race fan Craig Libuse was hesitant to admit that he remembers watching Redman's car win that first race in 1975 and has the super-8 movies to pr0ve it. |

(L) The band that played before us got to see the top runners come by. Here they are playing at the intersection of 6th and McCadden for a lone runner and a pair on bikes. (R) By the time we came on at 12:15, the runners from mid-pack filled the street in a constant procession. Cheerleaders at Highland and 6th (a block before our stage) stack up two high to cheer on the runners at the 20-mile point...only 6 miles to go. |
![]() |
(L) Our 6th and McCadden location on a thirsty day. The organizers provided water stops for the runners but forgot the bands. (R) Runner's eye view of the band. |
![]() |
(L) Band's eye view of the runners...who at this point in the afternoon had mostly become walkers. (R) Cheerleaders along the route kept up the spirit of the runners. |
![]() |
Even at mile 20 some runners had the energy to stop and dance a while in front of the band. This runner detoured over to the band and asked if she could play a little blues. Her name was either Nina or Nita Goldman, we're not sure, as she ran off as fast as she ran in after playing about 60 seconds of great New Orleans piano. (Sorry about the key mixup Ms. Goldman, it was my fault, not yours.) |
| Bob Hope Hollywood USO Tour, Army Reserve, Los Alamitos, CA, February 7, 2004 | |
![]() |
(L) Blues Bar-BQ takes the stage as the first band of a 5-band afternoon of entertainment for the Army Reserve troops at the Joint Military Training Base at Los Alamitos, CA. Billed as the "First Annual Family Readiness Fair," there was food and a number of information booths in addition to the music. (R) Bob is seen with the Swing Dolls, one of the groups in the lineup. They did 1940's style vocal swing. |
![]() |
General Gong was the man in charge of all the festivities and came out to meet all the band members. Here he's seen with Bob (L) and with Brion (R). Hosting the event was the 40th Infantry Division (M) from the Army Reserve. |
![]() |
General Gong, the troops and several of the entertainers got together after the bash was over. Other groups that performed were Straight Jacket (full on '80's power rock and roll) and Ms. Demeanor, a three lady group who had originally performed together in Viet Nam in 1968 for the USO. They just got back together again last year after a 30-year absence from the music scene and put on a great show of '60's rock. In the center in the white hats are the USO organizers of the show. To their left is General Gong and members of the Swing Dolls and Blues Bar-BQ. Members of Straight Jacket are to the left of the photo. |
